Dinosaur Egg Sea Salt - Asin Tibuok

  • $ 10000

Asin Tibuok is a rare Filipino artisanal sea salt, produced on the island of Bohol since the 1600s.  It is made by a labor-intensive process, involving filtering seawater through the ashes of burned coconut husks, then boiling the brine in clay pots.  As the brine cooks, the water boils off, and the salt forms into a solid mass in the shape of these small domed vessels.  The clay pots often crack, giving it the look of, and the common name of "Dinosaur Egg".
